The Weaving

In the past several weeks, I’ve blogged about workplace culture. You have gotten information about how important you are to the culture, your power to shift the tone, and ideas of what needs to be in place for a healthy environment.

There is no way that just reading some blog posts is going to change anything overnight in a team that is toxic.

Implementing these ideas into your own life first will make a difference. As your well-being shifts, your co-workers will receive ripple effects.

Choosing to live well is powerful.

In our lives of over-work, fast food, entertainment, distraction, and busy-ness it can feel impossible to make that choice.

Individuals who shift, even slightly, toward greater well-being will impact the flavor of a team.

This is what I recommend:

Start now; start small; start with one.

Just start now. You don’t need a new outfit, gym membership, eating plan, journal, or anything else to be able to shape your life more positively.

Wherever you begin is the right place. You are a whole person. If you make one part of your life better, your life will be better.

Start with giving yourself five minutes of silence per day. Experiment for three weeks. Notice that your body, mind, and spirit all respond positively to this change. Celebrate you!

Start Small: Micro changes are powerful.

Start with ONE: Because that is truly all it takes is one.

Now that you recognize the positive effects your body, mind, and spirit have experienced, turn your attention to your workplace culture. Notice how this micro-change has impacted the atmosphere.

The shift may be small, but it is likely to be noticeable.

That’s how you weave into the culture.

If you are like many, your heart sank when you read the preceding instruction because you’ve tried and couldn’t do it before. You may be beating yourself up, wondering why something so simple is so difficult.

There are answers in neuroscience about why it is such a challenge. It’s not your fault.

Sometimes it’s just not possible for us to modify things without help.

When we think of it, our brains lock up like rusty gears.

Let me be your WD-40. Book a call with me, and I’ll help you clear away some of the rust so your gears can move freely again.

The call is my gift to you.

No obligation, no pressure, only opportunity.
