Starting With Everything

Last week I revealed how I made a big mistake in adopting habits.

I Started Too Big!

There were several interrelated things I wanted to do about my business and I started them all.

I thought that since they were all associated with the business, it would be ok to start a whole stack.

The Result: Nothing Got Done.

This week we focus on starting too many things at once.

I’ve had times in my life when I had several areas that I wanted to work on at the same time.

For instance, eating healthy foods, keeping my desk cleared, and taking guitar lessons.

Each of these are wonderful practices.

Each requires daily attention.

That’s what makes it impossible to start too many different things at the same time.

With the habit stack, all things related, it is possible to establish a whole stack at the same time. It is considerably more challenging than starting one small habit, but it can be done. My experience has not proven that, but I know people who have done it.

Starting something new in different areas at the same time is nearly impossible.

Why?

Decision Fatigue.

Humans have a finite number of decisions that they can process in a day.

That’s why at the end of the day if you need to figure out what to cook for dinner, you will likely grab carry out.

You are already past your limit of decisions for the day.

Deciding takes energy!

When it’s multiple different areas of life, each will require its own decision.

Start with One

Choose the one thing that is most important. Keep track of that one practice.

The solution is to make as many decisions as possible ahead of time.

And, offer yourself bucketloads of grace!

When you find yourself struggling to establish a new practice that you want to have in your life, I can help.

I walk you through clarifying what you truly want in your life.

We design your personalized path together.

You step into your epic future life.

If you are spinning, I invite you to connect with me.

You can experience what it is like to work one on one with me.

We can spend some time figuring out your first steps and then getting on your unique path.

Then, once you’ve experienced my process, if you believe that working with me would be beneficial to you, we can explore what that would be like.

No obligation

No risk

Only opportunity

All the love,
